Chop chop chop!
I am chopping off my long hair. When I was in Hawaii in August, my hair was insanely long. It was down midway my butt. It was LONG, jet black, and HEAVY AS EFF!!!!! I had my cousin (and my haircutter) chop off enough hair to reach my boobs. That was still too long. Since then my hair has grown to new lengths and is now more than halfway down my back, and still jet black.
I found a new hairstyle I like and will be heading to Rudy's Barbershop on 13th and Couch. I will be cutting off so much hair, I will be able to feel wind on my neck yet again and I won't be able to put my hair up into the ponytails I have grown accustomed to. I'll post up before and after pics :D

I am.
SOOOOOO CONTENT.
I have Tuesdays off this semester while Haiasi has school from 8am - 4:30pm. I woke up at a reasonable time and looked at my list of things to do. Usually on days like this when I feel glum and whatevs, I throw on some feel good clothes. Boots, brown leggings, black dress, and light brown bomber jacket. Hair is a mess, but I don't mind cause I feel like a million. Katie taught me to do this. I miss her and Kate a bunch. Yucky mood + fabulous clothes = a much happier Cherish.
I went to the library, deposited my work check on 6th and Jefferson, and caught the streetcar to Powell's. I really enjoy walking about by myself in the city. Because I already know the area, it's nice to focus on the people surrounding myself. I take the Central Library for granted as well as Powell's. I forget at times how fascinated I am with books. I'm not a "literaturist," but I do enjoy those DIY books that I wish I could buy and Haruki Murakami's selection. I need to ask David Clark what he recommends me read next. I picked up those little square gift boxes that contained a tiny how to book and a mini mortar and pestle, the annotated version of Nabokov's Lolita and an Emma Magenta book that I will be giving to my sister. katie bought me my first Magenta book that helped me get through a very tough time in my life. I passed my version down to a friend in a similar situation, and now I will be giving one to my sister because she's an angsty teen who could use the book.
The future seems bright. Really. Haiasi will be applying for Blizzard's internship and I have high hopes of him getting it. He'll be in Cali for the summer and then he graduates in September. If all goes well, I graduate in December 2010, if Haiasi is in Seattle or Cali I'll be moving down with him. I can then FINALLY set up my print studio and find a job to pay for rent. I know it sounds so simple and unglamorous, but if you know me, then you know how I get with my little crafts and paper related items. I simply cannot wait :)
Haiasi and I will be making 2 years in November, but Halloween marks our first conversations :) It excites me when I read our past convo's on.....DON'T TEASE!!!.......MySpace >___< For our anniversary I will be handprinting those messages and framing it. That kid can surely drive me up the walls, but he completely completes me :) We make a good team in so many ways and I can't even begin to explain how generous and patient he is with my stubborn ways. He's a keeper!!
I found out last night that when our lease is up, Colin will be moving out. I'll still be here till March so I'm looking for a roomie. Preferably someone I know. If not, then I will have a room to store my crafts in till the big move. I have rambled on for a bit and now I am off to clean, organize, and sort through my cluttered house.
=UPDATE=
My boots and knit dress have been shipped! I'm excited cause I have not gone shopping for myself in a VERRRY long time :P

A Realization

When I came back from Hawaii this summer I brought back some fresh fish, halalu to be exact, to eat while I was in Portland. They are skinny 3-5 inch fish that are good for frying. I usually dip the halalu in a shoyu + chili pepper vinegar sauce I make and then eat it alongside my version of chazuke (hot rice with piping fresh genmaicha poured over it). I cooked this dish for the first time for Haiasi and I to eat and it came out fabulous. This is the third homemade recipe I have cooked in the past week and so far Haiasi has eagerly eaten every morsel of them all.
I came to a realization later on in the night when Haiasi and I were getting comfy in bed. It was half past 1am on September 18th officially and I whispered to Hai-kun, "Happy one and ten," with a soft smile on my face. He didn't get it until I told him that it meant happy one year and 10 months. He smiled back warmly. I thought for awhile and then told him that no matter how stupid or unbelievably dumb I feel in my theory classes, or the lack of my ability to form sound sentences, or my doubtful thinking of my present work, I know two things for sure. He asked what they were and I replied," I know for certain that I love you and my family undoubtedly." I teared up a little cause it reminded me of how far I was from my family, but he smiled a certain smile that made me feel incredibly lucky to have someone who day in and day out deals with my stubbornness and semi self-destructive ways. Unconditionally too without ever making a fuss. We make 2 years soon and I have a little present I am concocting in my little brain. When I am complete with it I shall post a picture up.
It feels nice to write this all out. Or maybe just nice to write something other than my reading responses for my insane lit class. I'll try to update this more...for my sake and sanity.

New Friends
Another update in over a month :P
I just successfully threw a Harry Potter movie marathon party tonight at my housey. More to come when I'm more awake! Cooking Mama is preoccupying my thoughts right now.
Gary, if you are reading this, MOVE TO PORTLAND!

:D

I just bought a Richeson Baby Press Package from Utrecht and I am VERY happy with my purchase :D It's a baby press so it prints 7inches across. Perfect for my card making :D I can put some woodblock prints through it and get the look I need and then add some silkscreen touches to it later. I can't believe it was so cheap. $199 for this press. It was originally $695ish. I feel like a lot of good things are pulling through for me after the shitty past 2 months dealing with crappy WAMU. I closed that account by the way yesterday, and opened up my credit union account today. I feel pretty great :D

I am alive...i think.

Hello hello.
I have not written a new blog entry for quite some time. I have been absent from life, sadly. I had my wallet stolen in the beginning of April from my bag at school while I was merely less than a foot away. In the midst of silk screening or washing out my screen, my goods got stolen and used profusely. I had about $800 taken from my 2 bank accounts and credit card. Washington Mutual still feels the need to NOT reimburse me. They actually expect me to pay for what that conniving thief stole from me as well as its 5 overdraft fees relating to the incident. Hopefully a letter from my teacher and the official police report will make them believe that I am a victim of thievery.
Because of that incident my life and funds were put on hold because I had no money, no paid rent, and no supplies for my upcoming installation and 2 print projects. Luckily I have a kind and generous boyfriend who bought and paid for everything I needed and then some. BUT all of my projects were very close to being late or incomplete. Now I'm just trying to get things done for school since the semester's done in about 2 weeks.
Focus week is this week and the seniors I did go see did marvelous jobs. I saw a collaborative interpretive fashion show of my internship lady's niece. You can check out her work at AidanKoch.com. I believe that she will actually do something amazing with her art degree :)
I have a bunch of projects I want to post, but I'll get to that later :P Oooh I also signed up for summer school (2 courses) and I am continuing with my fashion intership with Heather Treadway. I've been working with her for almost a little over a month and she is such an amazing and inspiring person, it's ridiculous. I've learned a bunch already from her and the fact that she works independantly is so great. I hope I can have a successful little company like hers one day for my little card/print shop :D Camara (Heather's other awesome intern) and I went to Heather's yesterday and were filmed and semi interviewed while going about our business when we were at her house. This company called OlioUnited is filming her as one of their designers in the Portland area. I'll be seen online sometime soon cutting away patterns with my shaky nervous hands while Billy the cat is in the background looking like her majesty! :D Hahaha...
I feel like so many great artists are coming out of this area that it makes me never want to leave. I'll be graduating next December, so beginning next year will be my leap into senior year. I am nervous, excited, and scared shitless. I'll be fine I think :) Look out for new prints and cards cause this sumemr I'll be pulling a bunch of prints and cards.
Summer To Do List:
- Pass my 2 summer courses!
- Sew a successful light summer dress.
- Make at least 2 editioned prints and 2 new cards.
- Sew curtains for my bedroom.
- Have a fun time with my Grandma, Aunty, cousins, and friends from home.
- Get my butt back into working out!

Domo Cards

I had some extra paper in my cubby so I decided to print some simple thank you cards on the letter press. I have them up for sale on my etsy account, so check it out! If they are a success, I will be making more of them on different colored paper and with different colored inks :D

New Print!

I just posted a new letter pressed print on my etsy account. I had printed a note that my boyfriend had written to me last year in October when we were having some financial struggles. It brought tears to my eyes when I found it on my desk because I was so stressed out with money. I decided to print it as some flat cards and folded cards for those who enjoy the message printed on it.
I must now get ready for a dinner with my lovely German friend. Have a great weekend :D

Coraline.
This weekend was pretty fun and busy at the same time. I need to start using my weekends as homework/project days, but I can't seem to fall back into my school rhythm (this is bad cause it's already week 4!!).
Friday: I walked to school after going to the doctor's and saw that someone was using the letterpress I signed up for (ARGH!!) so I sat around and hung out with Sandra for awhile in the printmaking studio. We picked up Haiasi after and walked down to Henry's for some happy hour yums and drinks, but come to find out it was waaaaayy too packed to wait around for an empty table. We headed to Denny's and regretted even thinking about eating there. Sandra and I ate some crappy greasy food that made our stomach's soo sore that we had to lie down immediately when we got home. A shitty way to spend $9 for a small plate of hash browns, 4 decrepit looking sausage links, and a cup of coke. NEVER AGAIN.
Saturday: My friend from high school drove down from Olympia, WA to spend the day with me. We ended up eating some dim sum and pho at Jin Wah (they have the best salt pepper squid EVER.) He then left to hang with another friend while Haiasi and I went with Sandra to IKEA and browsed around for a bed frame. We were going to grab a futon frame, but it was so low to the ground that it wouldn't have made much of a difference to what we were already doing (sleeping on the ground.) We ended up finding a cute black wood frame that felt pretty sturdy and solid. Our first bought furniture piece! I have to say, my lover has some good taste. The night ended with some giggles and Patch Adams watching.
Sunday: Woke up in a hurry and caught a ride down with David and Gabby to Lloyd Center Theaters to watch Coraline in 3D. Arrived too early and got frustrated at the fact that AI bought all the 2:35 showings for Coraline and the 5:10 had quickly sold out. Junko arrived shortly after. After some questionable talking with the AI guy with the tickets, Haiasi worked his magic and got me and Junko free tickets (saved $10). Watched Coraline and loved every single second of it. It was great having it in 3D and I will mosdef be buying the DVD :D Go watch it if you can. Not so much of a kiddy movie so it was enjoyable.
That was my jam packed weekend. This week I have a Theory + Practice project due. I am printing out a huge buddha that will be completely covered in glitter and hung in a huge frame. I tried to do an anaglyph buddha (where you need to wear the red and blue glasses to see it pop out) but I failed horribly and scratched that idea. Glitter Buddha it is! I shall update later...

Jiwa Jiwa
I am starting to work on my print shop. It's called Jiwa Jiwa Prints. Jiwa jiwa in Nihongo (Japenese) means slowly, but steadily. I am selling little printed things like cookbook cards, birthday cards, envelopes, owl pins :P Look out for my stuff on etsy under jiwajiwaprints.etsy.com :D Nothing's up right now though....

Head Over Heels.
I don't know if I mentioned, but I am mostly friends with people that are 20 years of age or younger. Only a few acquaintences I know of around town are actually over 21, but we don't hang out or see each other often. My first close friend up here, Sandra, turned 21 this past weekend before school started and I wanted to post a pic up of her special night. It was a pretty crazy night with lots of shots being taken. Haiasi and I ended up being the most wasted that night while Sandra woke up the next morning hangover free. I'm glad I actually have someone to go out to the bars with me, other than Haiasi :P Btw, Haiasi REFUSES to smile in any picture. The ones I do have up with him smiling are ridiculous cause it's all forced >:{I was walking home the other day and it just hit me that I have a lovely boyfriend who lives with me. The realization was more on the part of my boyfriend living with me. Strange how it's been almost a year of him sharing a bed with me and it just hit me the other day.
I am almost through my first full week of 6 classes and I have to say that it is EXHAUSTING. I noticed also that since I am in school from 7:30ish in the morning till 5ish at night, I drink a lot of tea. Its nice to be drinking some damn good mixed green teas, but bothersome cause of the 10 bajillion bathroom breaks I take during one class period. Blegh.
My Papa James' anniversary is coming up within a couple of weeks. I want to finish converting a VHS tape of him before his anniversary so I can send the DVD copy to my family. After my Papa passed away when I was in 8th grade, I have come to notice that I have a bad fixation on close family and friends dying. It scares me to the point of crazy worrying and I wish I could stop. I am seriously thinking of seeing someone about it. It doesn't help either since I am so far away from my family. I can't just drive home and feel better :(
I have a new love for Moleskine writing journals.
I always buy them with their natural bindings and either lined or not lined regular journals in sets of 3. They are a bit pricey, but they are so great for class and collecting my thoughts. This weekend shall be fun. I have a birthday party to attend this Friday. Saturday is fight night :D I booked a table for 4 at a sports bar/restaurant to watch the BJ Penn and Georges St. Pierre fight (YAY!) and Sunday will either be a beach day or a homework day. I am excited and really glad I have a ton of things to look forward to this weekend. I'll write again soon, if I don't get too swamped.

New Semester
I started school yesterday and surprisingly, I woke up on time for my 8am class. My first early morning class since 2005. My first class of the day was Time Arts and it was actually fun after we got through the typical syllabus talk. We created slide images for our first project. I will work on them later on this weekend. That class meets up twice a week, Monday and Wednesday. Yay for 8am classes! (but not really...)
Second class was my art history 300 elective class which I chose to take History of Photography. I have it with a few of my friends at PNCA so I was pretty stoked on that and only that. The class dragged on and on and on and on, but it doesn't seem like it will be a burden when it comes closer to finals.
Second day of classes and I have one at 11am till 5pm for Theory + Practice: Art and Religion. I hope I have some people in there that I know cause I know it will be a long and tedious lecture. I will end it here because I need to get ready for it and make me a sandwhich for lunch. Bye!

My Second Home Away From Home
I made it back to Portland just fine. I arrived Tuesday night to a late lover and cold toes! Taking sleeping pills right before you board your plane is such a good idea. It worked for me, prolly one of the best long naps on a plane. I woke up without having a cramped body and restless sleep. I think mostly because the pills numbed me a bit :P Tylenol PM does me good :P
I got back home at about 11pm and was happy to see that my digital pics from Walmart had arrived. I ordered pics from Haiasi and my Hawaii trip during the summer. I asked Haiasi if he wanted to help me put together a photo album of us and he agreed so I was glad to see my 2 stacks on my desk :)
I had a lot of stuff from the winter workshop I taught at so I mailed the supplies home instead of carrying it with me on the plane. 4 flat rate boxes and 1 big box of old family VHS tapes and Haiasi's Christmas presents :P Oh and kinako powder for all the mochi I made and brought back too! Grandma and I made about 5 lbs. worth of mochi for me to freeze and eat whenever. I know gary wishes he was hanging out with me and eating that sugary yumminess. Sooo good!
I have a little less than a week before school starts. I think I mentioned it, but I'm taking a full load consisting of 6 classes. I know I'm crazy, but I am doing it for 2 semesters to graduate on time. I hope I don't get too stressed out and have a mental breakdown though :P That would not be pleasant. AND
they are pretty much all 8am classes....I haven't had 8am classes since highschool. Blehh. But at least I have a few things to look forward to. Haiasi and I will be eating at Cheesecake Factory tonight to celebrate our anniversary :D And then this weekend I shall have several drinks with Sandra in celebration of her FINALLY turning 21. And then to start mys school year, Obama's Inauguration :D I hope 2009 will go smoothly and I am ready for this brand new year. 2008 was fabulous for me since I got close again with my childhood friends and I found a wonderful boy that makes me happy :) This was waaay too long, but I needed to share and make up for the lack of posts. Oh, and I wish Emi the best with the rest of her wedding planning :)
P.S. I loooooove strawberry shortcake. Especially when they are in cupcake form! Oishii!!

Leaving on a jet plane...
I am leaving Hawaii nei this coming Tuesday. I am excited and dreading it at the same time. I have enjoyed my time back at home and look forward to the next time I am home (which may be next December again) and my love will be coming home with me again for New Years :D It shall be fun and different for him since New Years isn't a huge thing for him.
It sucked for the first 1.5 week of break cause I got horribly sick and am only recovering now. I have been away from Haiasi for a good 2.75 weeks and miss him terribly! I shall update later though cause friends want me to play Left 4 Dead!
